Delbert appeared in December on WFUV's Words and Music From Studio A. From the NPR archives, we also have Delbert and the band's appearance on World Café in 2006 and a great interview with Delbert on Fresh Air in 2005. Check 'em out!

Three-time Grammy® Award winning artist Delbert McClinton has released his latest album Acquired Taste. It's his first new studio recording in over four years. The new record, available August 18th from New West Records, was produced by Grammy® Award winning producer Don Was (Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt). Acquired Taste was released as a 14-track CD as well as a deluxe CD/DVD with never before seen performances from one of his Austin City Limits TV appearances.
The album is a juke joint blend of country soul, infused with blues, rock and jazz. McClinton, one of the greatest American vocalists, showcases his versatile voice on ballads like "Starting A Rumor" and "Never Saw It Comin'", while he jazzes things up on tracks including "Mama's Little Baby" and "Until Then."
McClinton, who can be heard on vocals, guitar and harmonica, calls on his seasoned band, Dick50, to back him on the new record; Lynn Williams (drums), Steve Mackey (bass), Kevin McKendree (keyboards, lead guitar on "Cherry Street") and Rob McNelley (guitar, background vocals on "When She Cries At Night"). McClinton is also joined by several guest musicians including his longtime friend Stephen Bruton, who plays guitar and sings background vocals on "Can't Nobody Say I Didn't Try." Also on the album: Dennis Taylor (sax on " People Just Love To Talk"), Michito Sanchez (percussion on "Do It," "Mama's Little Baby," "Until Then" & "Starting A Rumor"), Maxine and Julia Waters (background vocals on "Starting A Rumor" & "Mama's Little Baby") and Tom Hambridge (drums on "Mama's Little Baby" & "She's Not There Anymore"). Audio samples from the CD are now available.
We've completed revamping the SBC Videos on delbert.com. We're using a new service to display the videos and they're now larger, sharper and faster to download and play. Scroll down the right hand side of this page and you'll see the SBC Videos section with 30 videos. In the SBC 15 Video Montage, Jay Curlee, director of the “Rocking the Boat” DVD, did a great job of capturing the SBC 15 artists (and cruisers) in action, set to the music of Delbert's “Goin' Back to Louisiana”.

Delbert contributed a recording of “Lay Down Sally” to the Imus Ranch Record CD, which was released in September, 2008. Proceeds from the sale of this CD benefit the Imus Ranch in New Mexico. Radio legend Don Imus and his family play host to over 100 children with cancer each year at this working cattle ranch. Click this link to read a New York Times article about the CD. The Deluxe Edition of the “Rocking the Boat,” the award-winning music documentary and concert film starring Delbert and an SBC boatload of his musical friends, is now shipping. The soundtrack is now mixed in heart-thumping Dolby 5.1 and DTS Surround Sound. Making movies is an expensive, exhilarating, and sometimes frustrating process. Our roller coaster ride included beating out this year's Oscar winner at one festival and out box-officing new films from William Friedken and Sidney Lumet at a couple others. We closed our festival season sharing the red carpet with the likes of Martin Sheen and good friend Matt Clark at the Lone Star International Film Festival.
The Surround Sound Mix was done at Paul “Pappy” Middleton's Palmyra Studios in Palmer, TX. Pappy supervised and the mix was beautifully done by Milo Phillips. These guys really stepped up to save the day. There are seven new songs and one new story. The movie runs for 113 minutes and there is more than 1 hour of bonus material. Whitey Johnson, Clay McClinton, Pianorama, and Bob DiPiero were added to the lineup. It took 34 years for the great documentary, “Festival Express,” to get completed. We started production on RTB in July, 2005. Seems like yesterday.
